One of the UK's biggest quilt shows is around the corner! This August, the Festival of Quilts will be back and WonderFil™ is excited to offer 5 different classes taught by Valerie Mizzoni from Canada and Herma de Ruiter from the Netherlands. WonderFil™ will also be exhibiting, so we encourage you to drop by for inspiration, threaducation, and any sewing questions you might have. Threadpainted Miniature

Find inspiration in pictures of beautiful sunrises and sunsets and make your own. Do you like your clouds in soft pastels or more vibrant colours? Stitch your own miniature sunset or sunrise using the kit provided. You can choose your own colours. What does your favourite sky look like? Do you prefer abstract? Then that’s an option too. You will take home a finished and framed miniature work of art.
Transparent 3-D Stitching
Friday August 11 - 1:30pm
Couch Razzle™, Dazzle™ and/or Sizzle™ 8wt rayon + metallic threads onto organza and a water solvable stabilizer to create a 3D transparent object (tealight holder). Create shapes and patterns on the organza by stitching lines with thick threads using a couching foot. Go for subtle effects with a little glimmer using Razzle™ and Dazzle™ or go all out with the sparkle of Sizzle™. Finish with the decorative stitches on the sewing machine.

Sashiko Stitched Modern Tea Towel - 1hr Workshop - Beginner Level

Sashiko (translated - ‘little stabs’) is the Japanese folk art of using running stitches in circular or geometric designs. Learn to create simple modern designs using specialty threads and this age old technique. In this 1 hour class you will create an interesting and modern tea towel, and get inspiration for other effective accents for your home, or interesting blocks for your quilts!

Swedish Weaving Pot Holders - 1hr Workshop - Beginner Level

Learn the simple techniques of an age old form of stitching. Swedish Weaving (or Huck Weaving) is a technique of stitching through the top threads of a fabric, so the stitching doesn’t show on the underside of your work. Learn to create interesting folk art accents for your home using specialty threads. You will receive what you need to create pot holders as a simple starting project.
English Paper Pieced Hexagonal Hot Pad - 1hr Workshop - Beginner Level
